As teachers, do you text parents?

Clip to ScrapBook #1

My cousin just posted a screenshot of a text exchange with her daughter's teacher. In a nut shell, her daughter was recently diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. The teacher texted mom to let her know that she kept asking to test her blood. Mom texted her back that it was low after school. The teacher's response was this...

Oh my gosh!!! I'm so sorry!! I completely forgot about the nurse!! I'm learning slowly, but I'll get it!! She ask (sic) everyday for a sucker, so I have a hard time knowing.

So, my cousin is upset because they have a health plan in place that isn't being followed. I got stuck on the whole texting thing. I have only texted a parent once, and it was an unusual situation. I don't want parents to have my personal number. I'm also a little shocked at the text itself. What gives with all the exclamation points? It looks like a teenager is texting her. Ugh!
