Clip to ScrapBook #2

LOTS of rotational groups.

Many concepts can be introduced whole group, + then you can send kids off to rotating activities while you work in more depth with a particular grade level- or two.

E.g. introduce fractions with a fun fraction song. Demonstrate cutting a pie into halves & then quarters. Send k-2 kids off to play a simple fraction bingo game. Work with grade 3-4 kids on equivalent fractions. Send them off to complete a worksheet on equivalent fractions- bring k-2 kids back for some review. Kinder kids could keep playing bingo or whatever. A lot of times, your kinders will be playing while you work with older kids. It takes kinders a LONG time to learn to work independently, but extra time for play is a good thing anyway.

Teaching multiple grades is such a juggle, but the kids learn independence, resilience, teamwork, problem solving, & how to assist a younger or less able student.
