Clip to ScrapBook #5

If I were you I would cut down on the number of total rotations per day. I only do one literacy center per day, and they do a new one each day (so only four total). I can't stand doing multiple rotations and all of the planning, transitions, and chaos it creates. You can either just meet with each group once per week, or not make yourself a rotation and pull them out of their center in small groups (which is much more flexible).

I used to have a math flow that I loved. We would do calendar, then game time, then a whole group lesson, then one rotation (I was a rotation). Each lasted 15-20 minutes. It was enough variety to keep the kids engaged, but not so much planning and they weren't required to stay independent for 45 minutes or more.
