Thanks for the clarification... no apology necessary. I think some of the confusion came from saying you were "helping out." It's a true statement but may have led some to think you were volunteering.

My suspicion was correct. You're being paid for two different jobs in one paycheck, that's why no overtime. Your subbing pay is for one unit, not one hour. A unit is a day. They can't list hours because you're not paid on an hourly basis and the length of your day could vary. It would be great if the payroll software made that clear but I doubt that's a priority. Your paycheck includes 10 days pay for subbing plus 30 hours pay for the time you spend in dispatch.

My check looks similar when I sub as a teacher (per diem) and as an Ed Tech (hourly). Personally, I see nothing "shady" about it but would agree that it could be more clearly stated.
