long term job

Clip to ScrapBook #18

I've done 2 long term jobs for social studies. They were very different. In one, the teacher prepared all the plans. There were 4 preps, so it was somewhat challenging. In the other, the teacher told me to do whatever I wanted. It was a single prep that was a breeze for me. In both schools I was given access to the grade book and attendance systems in the first day or two. Both jobs had an indefinite length. One turned out to be longer than everyone expected and the other shorter. In the job with the single prep, I only saw the principal when he would stop by during my prep and ask if I could stay an additional week. He always asked if I was sure I could stay, there was no pressure.

I found it interesting that neither of the principals ever observed what I was doing in class. The one principal probably walked by the classroom at least once a day but I doubt the other principal ever walked by.
