Currently, I'm reading David Kilpatrick's books about phonological awareness. It is research-based information and how to apply it to everyday practice.

His two books are:

Essentials of Assessing, Preventing, and Overcoming Reading Difficulties (available on Amazon). This is his researched-based book. This would be good for a book study (but fair warning - it is not a quick, easy read).

Equipped for Reading Success (available at equippedforreadingsuccess.com) is the accompanying phonemic awareness program that Kilpatrick developed based on the results of the research. This is more of a teacher's manual to implement lessons, but it also includes some of the information in his other book.
