For lining up arrays correctly try using grid paper or loose leaf paper turned horizontally. That also works for lining up 2 or 3 digit computation problems.

For word problems you could prepare a separate answer sheet. For problems with several questions you could try this:

ex: #10
a. ____________________
b. ____________________
c. ____________________

Adjust the length and number of lines based on what a correct answer would need. BTW, having a separate answer sheet is usually easier and faster to check.
