I had a classroom with a huge whole wall black chalkboard. It was relatively close to my SmartBoard so I was highly discouraged from using it [as chalk dust is harmful for the projectors.]

Luckily it was magnetic so I just cleaned it very well and used magnets to put up everything from the borders to the contents. It looked great just as it was.
