If you have a smaller bulletin board in the classroom, I would do a rotating thing highlighting one monument at a time - photo(s), a map of where it is, some facts about it, etc. I would also open it up to students if they have visited a monument on vacation. They can be in charge of the display for that one, and maybe tell the class about it.
For geography, you could do a "monument road trip" and have the kids plot a route through some major monuments and learn a little about each state they pass through.
For creative writing, have them choose a monument and write a story about it - the Statue of Liberty comes to life, mystery at Big Ben, Curious George on the Eiffel Tower...
