You just have to really check and compare the text to your standards. I am in GA and much of what is in EDM is not in our state standards, and vice versa (many of our standards are not covered in the text). I use as much of the text as I can but I have to supplement A LOT. I have seen teachers who literally go straight by the book and their kids are so lost when it comes to the actual standardsthere are holes in their learning because the curriculum misses things that are in our state standards.
I like how the text is laid out with strategies for below, on, and above level students as well as ELL students for each lesson. The math boxes are a great review. I hope your district is purchasing math journals for the students to write in. They really are necessary to implement the curriculum correctly. Talk to some of your grade 3 teachers since they are familiar with it and with your state standards.
