No prep time

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Is it common not to have any real prep or collaboration time? Any prep time is before school. The earlier we come in, the more time we can prep. Do teachers usually get prep time during the day? We have no collaboration time - unless we want to plan during our 20 minutes of lunch. We have yard duty every day- both recess and lunch, and we have to be out with the P.E. teacher as well.
After school, I check email and grade. I have been doing a lot of work at home, but I am loosing my mind! I've read that I need to set boundaries; whatever doesn't get finished after an hour or so after school will get done another time...at school.

I don't want this to turn into a rant (too late?), so I just want to know if prep/collaboration time varies from school to school or is it normally provided? BTW, I work at a non-union charter school.
