I’ll give you a label. Emotionally Disturbed. No telling what the child went through before he landed at his grandparents’ house. If that’s not enough, you’ve got some ignorant grandparents, as evidenced by their denying assessment. I’m curious if social services aren’t already involved in the family (since he lives with grandparents.) I’m sorry nobody is giving you support. I’m sorry for the kid too. With what you described, I’d bet he’ll be an addict by high school. I remember one year I had a novice temporary principal who was clueless and I snarled at him, “Half these kids will be in jail when they’re adults”. Fast forward 20 years and sadly, one died as a prostitute, a few criminals, and many addicts. All from a nice little school in a nice little town. Soooo, I hear you and I validate you.
