I have both. My MacBookPro (about 10 years old) has died. I was wishing I could get help with retrieving Word files from its hard drive. The Apple Store is 50 miles away and I am not going out except to grocery. I miss the CD drive on it because it was a low cost way to share files. The new one probably doesn't have the CD drive and fewer teachers have one now.
The MacBookAir is perfectly adequate for me.
