Wow, I'm so sorry that you had such a terrible experience. I do think the classroom setting/admin/district makes a big difference though. You were thrown into a really difficult position...my first year was pretty shielded - 16 kids no SPED/No ELL with a two year mentor program due to my newbie status. 12 years later, I'm lucky to be apart of a school with a supportive admin and community of parents. I continue to enjoy my career. I couldn't imagine doing subbing longterm because I like having the control of the decision making in my class and watching the same group of kids grow throughout the year. You know what they say, 'To each their own'. I wish you the best.
