Honestly- the best money spent was attending a 2 day workshop on the 6 Traits. In our area we had a trainer who gave us TONS of lessons to do to teach the different traits. You can also find lots of information on ##########.com
I'd start with ideas and move from there. Utilize mentor texts....print up student rubrics and have the kids grade the mentor text to see if they are similar or not.
