This is stupid.
Sadly, it works both ways. My union recently demanded, and was granted, a free half-day for teachers with no work requirements due to the district network going down for 2 hours on the day grades were due. They didn't care that the DO extended the due date a full two days since those 2 days went into our vacation time.
Some common decency from both sides of the equation sure would make me happy.
