What grade do you teach? I usually start recorder in grade 4 but you could probably do grade 3 if it's a good group of kids. There are lots of good beginner books that come with a play-along CD. I like "Complete Recorder Resource" by Denise Gagne. Easy to use and the kids like it. You might also want to google something called recorder karate.
