Could it be that she is beginning to go through puberty? The effects on the brain can sometimes be astounding.

I agree with OPs that a new genre may help. Her interests are probably changing. Some current favorites with my students: Towers Falling, Wonder, A Series of Unfortunate Events (12 in the series), Smile Try searching tween book lists.

Finally, try reading one with her. Tweens thrive on discussion, especially if they feel that they are taken seriously.
