When we come back after break, my students are learning about identifying the author's message. It's actually a review lesson. I'd like to read a picture book mentor text and then have the students response to what they think the lesson is with 3 clear pieces of text evidence to back it up. However, I want to make sure there is a picture book with 3 clear pieces of evidence. The one I've used in the past is great for identifying the lesson, but it's pretty much just 1 piece of very clear evidence. Any ideas for books?
I'm sure Patricia Pollacco has several that would fit. They JUST read Thank you Mr. Faulkner in library, so I don't want to use that one. Maybe "My Rotten Red Headed Older Brother?" "Pink and Say"?
Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman is a good one, too. Any other ideas?
