YES, YES, YES!!

Also... Don't get involved in any unnecessary drama at school. Help out newbies and those with tech-phobia without being asked. Get along well with and respect others, including the secretary, custodian, lunch people, etc. Offer your help when you know the principal is in a bind (I stayed late and closed up the school once when the principal's daughter broke her arm).

On the idea of fun stuff, I had my first graders write letters to the principal, sing songs and read stories to her, among other things. She loved it!

I never knew any of my principals before they took the position or I moved to their school. My district usually hires principals that are new to the school or district. Less chance of previous friends.
