Pumpkins and different mediums

I'm looking to create pumpkins for a pumpkin patch. I have cut outs of my kids in poses and I want to use them to "stand" on their pumpkin in the patch. Does anyone have a suggestion about what medium I could use to create these pumpkins. I don't want to just cutout from orange paper or to just paint with tempera paint. thank you for any suggestions.
