This is something that people don't know enough about. I would not know if it weren't for your posts. There is a woman at our church whose adult son is a drug addict living on the streets. She said he is bipolar. I do not know his history but I do not believe he had the same opportunity for care that others get. I think people give up when treatment by a family doctor doesn't work instead of seeking out more qualified doctors. Maybe they don't have access to treatment because of finances and lack of good health insurances. Maybe they just don't know. Nancy, I think you are wonderful for truly being an advocate for your daughter and for voicing your opinions (your knowledge of mental health issues).
