I am from NC and the two standards that seem most relevant are:

"The learner will apply basic economic concepts to home, school, and the community."
-If some crop is scarce, how does it influence the economy?
-What do farmers do to help the community? What do others do to help the farmers?
-What types of goods do farmers produce?

"The learner will express basic geographic concepts in real life situations."
-What influence do seasons have on farms, and as a result, the community?
-What sort of region/terrain would you usually find a farm?
