I spent a lot of time in developmental preschools when I substituted. I have not seen individual schedules for preschools, but schedules are always posted and reviewed. I can see how that might be a good idea for some preschoolers. The best ones were extremely organized physically and routine wise. There was something to do the minute the children arrived, which was especially essential if their arrivals were staggered because of different bus schedules and parent drop off. For example, child can be looking at books and doing puzzles before breakfast. After breakfast can be the first circle time--start with a hello song, introduce the learning concepts, read, and do a movement activity. Transition to fine motor activities--table/tub toys and craft projects. Give the clean up signals with a five minute warning, and go outside for gross motor. Come in for snack, and another short circle time, and move into choice time. Do a closing circle after choice time with a review of the day, another song, and a good bye song, and go home.
