It's hard to comment without knowing the situation. Who hasn't been in a class where a particularly boring activity suddenly spurs an epidemic of bathroom "emergencies?"
I never deny anyone the right to go, but I will say, you just went, wait until xxx, or I always enforce my "one out at a time" rule.
Were you referring to a teacher or a sub, who did this? My son is in Catholic high school and his teachers are very strict. He has been denied the right many times to leave a class. I don't like it, but I choose my battles. In my daughter's public high school, they actually lock the doors between classes. We had a European exchange student stay with us last year and she was absolutely stunned by this rule. But some schools (and some teachers) do what they have to do, presumably for good reason. I hope.
