How do you attach name tags?

Just wondering what you do to attach your student's nametags? They always pick at the tape, so just wondering if there are any more awesome ways to attach them.

I use packing tape and change the nametags monthly or every couple of months.

Contact paper, it doesn't leave a sticky residue at the end of the year like tape.

I use the the name plate covers that you slip the name plates in and have the tape on the back of them. They are great! AND easy to get off the desk at the end of the year.

Velcro Dots

I used velcro dots last year and I loved it. It made it super easy to move students around. It takes a little training with the children not to play with the name tags but once they learn it works great.

The desks are magnetic. So I use sticky magnet squares. They put their name tags at the front of their desk so they don't play with them. I can also remove them if I want to once I know where the students sit. Then I can put them back out when there is a sub.

I just write their names on their desks with a sharpie/permanent marker! I know, it sounds horrifying - I definitely thought so the first time I saw my partner do it. But, it works great and to take it off, all you have to do is color over the marker with a dry erase. Now that I've done this - I'm NEVER going back to name tags.

I've done both tape and velcro dots and after 1 year of doing velcro I'm going back to tape. I just hated the way the name tags didn't sit flatly on the desktop. I keep my desks in table groups with a plastic basket it the middle with supplies and the name tags just got thrashed because they weren't flat.

So, packaging tape here I come!

I use cut outs and I rubber cement them onto the front of their desk so their little fingers are not tempted to mess with it. It is nice because when you look at their desk their name is right there for a sub to read it easily while walking around the room.

tack. It is great and reusable, so if they need to move, no issues!
