This will be my first year in the library. Very excited and have been working a lot this summer getting the wall space etc. inviting and fun. Our district just adopted the Houghton Mifflin Journeys reading program. The BIG idea throughout each lesson is: There are many reasons to take a journey. So I decided to have that as the library theme. I am listing a brief description of what I am planning, but need some creative captions to go with some of the walls.
I have a space themed wall (Who wouldn't want to take a journey to space, right)
The only caption I can think of is: Blast off with a journey into space OR Blast off with a good book.
I have 4 computers in front of a window. I put up paper around the window and made a fun border with old CD's I had. I need a caption to put at the top?????
I have a wall with 2 windows. I am planning on making the windows with panes, so you can see it in the library as well as in the entry way, when people walk in the building. Around the windows in the library, I plan to have a space for student work. So any caption that might incorporate a window...window to learning??? ugh..hard one
Another wall has a hot air balloon theme. I think I have this one planned. I have a poster that has a caption. Put up cloud paper, a border with blue and white tule. I have also taken round, striped paper lanterns, hung three at different lengths. Found small baskets and added them with string. Now they are hot air baloons
I live in the pacific NW (Seattle Area). I would like to display Animal Journeys (Migration) I am planning on migration of whales, salmon and birds, such as snow geese?? Idea for a caption???
I have a biography wall...nothing on it yet. I was thinking of finding books to display of people who have taken part in adventures both current and in the past. Ideas???
2 Pillars/poles in the library....what to do.....hmmmm!
Finally I have a HUGE space right above the books about states, countries, geography etc. Thinking of a map?? Any ideas for a good caption relating to that and adventure or journeys?
I KNOW THIS IS A LOT OF INFORMATION, BUT THAT IS WHAT THE FORUM IS FOR, RIGHT? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I AM VERY EXCITED, BUT NEED SOME INPUT WHEN AND IF ANYONE HAS A FREE MOMENT TO RESPOND. THANK YOU
