but others within about 5 miles have burned in the fire that came through the Reno area. My DH was home and I texted him a list of must takes in case he had to run for it. I was subbing and spent the night with a friend and then took an extra 90 minutes getting home because the highway that had had fire on both sides was still closed. The scorched earth along the road is amazing.

We had snow today so I expect most of the remaining embers are out. I feel so sad for the 30+ people who lost their houses with just minutes to grab and go. We had about 10,000 people who had to evacuate, everyone with a house to return to is home now.

We are putting together a list of things to take in such an emergency.
