Whites for Gingrich?

If the Gingrich campaign created such a website, would that be racism? How about Catholics for Santorum, or Mormons for Romney? So where's the uproar about this website?

African-Americans for Obama. Why isn't this racism? Why would he need this anyway? Didn't he already collect over ninety percent of the black vote in the last election?

Good questions. Too bad there are no good answers.

I've always wondered about that kind of thing. In my city, there's a Black Expo every year. Why can't it just be an expo? Would it be acceptable to have a White Expo? I don't know why we can't just include everyone.

another question with an obvious answer.....ummmm......remember when blacks did not have the same civil rights as whites? They couldn't vote? Couldn't attend quality schools with whites? Weren't paid the same? Were treated like second class citizens? Well....that was only 50 years ago folks. Many would say aspects of racism are still going on to some degree. African Americans are standing up together and claiming the same rights and liberties as whites, enjoying the same freedoms, reaching their goals and dreams, and, yes, supporting a candidate that they feel speaks to them. It is not racist-they are not excluding YOU...they are just INCLUDING themselves!

And there are Catholic groups for Santorum, Morman groups for Romney and White groups for Gingrich....They are called republicans!

Justifying racism?

How curious. While there isn't anything wrong with African-Americans identifying with Obama, I do see something wrong with Obama playing the race card in order to get votes. Don't you?

Nope it would not be racism. There is nothing wrong with reaching out to your strongest base of supporters and not taking them for granted.

Wow, put things in context much?

This site is part of his campaign site, under a tab called "groups." There is a group for African Americans, Asians, Latinos, Women, LGBT Americans, People of Faith, young americans, and military families.

It's social networking on a campaign site. They focused mainly on minorities, but that would be because the President IS a minority! Some people would like to join a group of people that they have something in common with, such as a woman's group or LGBT.

(I actually visited Newt's site for this!)

Quote:
Welcome to Newt 2012 Coalitions. Newt 2012 Coalitions are groups of people in a specific community, industry, demographic or just people with similar interests coming together to support Newt Gingrich for President.
So I guess Newt does it too. The extreme right wing websites that have written about this, trying to make it a racial issue, might want to do their research.

White Expo?

It's called the White Supremacist Conference also known as the American Renaissance Conference.

Or the Boat Show or Sportsmen Expo.

I'd like to see Newt have a woman's group or LGBT section.

I agree with Opal's statement. " .....ummmm......remember when blacks did not have the same civil rights as whites? They couldn't vote? Couldn't attend quality schools with whites? Weren't paid the same? Were treated like second class citizens?"

Unfortunately not everyone is included. How many of us walked into a store unable to find simple things like hair products that we can use? Or looked in a magazine to find no one looked like you. There is still a lot of seperation.

Also - no one said a non-black person cannot go to the expo. I'm sure you would find a mixture of people.

I never knew how it felt to be a minority until I got to Japan.

Can't find the right hair products, the right size clothing, get stared at often, signs that say ASIANS ONLY, don't see my race in any magazines, if I see someone of my race on TV they are the token white guy or the guy in that role is the idiot on the show..... etc

Congregation Captains

No one has commented on the "Congregation Captains " Obama has asked to organize. Some churches (conservative ones) were threatened with loosing their tax exemption if they supported a candidate in the last election. Now how can Obama call for churches to support and organize for him?
