Reading Specialist or ELL?

Not sure if this is the correct place for this but here goes....I have recently applied to begin a year long endorsement program for ELL. The univeristy has a grant that will pay 85% of the tuition, if accepted. I thought for sure this was the way to go. Recently, I read an article in our state newspaper that claims there is a major shortage in reading specialists. So, now I'm wondering if I should go that route instead. I have 19 years elementary experience mainly in Alaska. I am hoping to move to the lower 48 (LA, SC) in the next year or two and would like to make myself more "employable" by getting one or the other endorsement. My question is: which would be the better endorsement? When looking at job sites with the different districts I see a lot of ELL openings but I know how much a struggle reading is becoming, too. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

LA has lots of ELLs. So getting ELL license would be very beneficial.
