My apologies if I am posting in the wrong area, this is my first post. I got my degree in Biology in May 2016, and I am seriously considering teaching high school science (preferably biology). What is really the difference in the science vs. life science certifications? Do schools prefer one vs the other for biology?

Not sure about TX, I am in NH...but here we have a general science cert that would mostly get middle school science or ninth grade science. To teach anything else you need a specific cert in biology, chemistry, or physics...or physical science. Schools here prefer teachers with multiple science certs for flexibility reasons...small schools sometimes need a teacher to fill in an area that is not their preference.
