I watched many of the speakers yesterday and believe what they said. How people can disregard and overlook that and confirm DeVos makes me sick.

what happens next depends on how many balls in the air Trump can juggle.

He's already got several serious issues in various states of disarray. Will he add another with educational changes? I think almost anything is up for grabs in education with Trump as President and DeVos as Secretary as Education. Neither one has the necessary knowledge for the positions they hold. I can see them forging ahead on one thing or another without proper preparation.

I heard one Republican, from Texas I believe, say that he welcomed a so-called outsider to the educational establishment (paraphrase) in order to shake things up a bit.

I value the education of our citizens far too much to think that having someone with limited knowledge lead the Education Department is a good idea.

Today is a sad and scary day for public education. Another incompetent person in a very important position.

Just my opinion and not trying to sway anyone's opinion or to start arguments, but John King and Arne Duncan were just as incompetent when it came to supporting public schools and public school teachers.

I expect more of the same because no one in D.C. really gets it.

I expect it to get worse as she wants vouchers for for-profit schools.

I agree that Arnie Duncan was also awful. The whole fake "Texas Miracle" thing and now the standardized testing obsession. I really can't even fathom what will be next. We have zero charter schools in my area. However, our district is always short on money. I wonder if some company will take it over.

I guess next time somebody starts complaining about how incompetent teachers are, we can just point to a picture of our new boss.
