Path back 10 years after failed first year teaching?

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Eleven years ago, I quit my job to go back to school to become a teacher. Because I had a 2-year-old that stilI needed to be cared for, I signed up online. I completed the program in 18 months and landed a job teaching middle-school math. Once in this position, I found myself without the resources, support, and skills needed to do the job. After only 6 weeks, I limped away defeated and broken.
I am now ready to retry.
I am thinking of starting out by becoming a paraeducator. I feel that spending some time in this role will give me an opportunity to build classroom management skills and connections that I didnít have the first-time around.
Does this plan seem reasonable?
Do you have any other suggestions for someone wanting to return to teaching after a failed first year?

I think slowly getting back into the classroom after a break is a great idea! I took 10 years off after a very difficult couple of years and started back by subbing.
