Too serious to even joke about

I was channel surfing and I like to read the synopsis of tv shows, even the ones I don't watch. Apparently, on "Teachers" tonight, the copier breaks.

I'm sorry, but there are certain things that are just too serious to even joke about and that's one of them.

Few things strike fear in a teacher's heart like the copier going down.

Copier down
No toilet paper
No donuts
Lamp out on projector for smartboard

That's my idea of a bad school day

Feel free to add to the list

Plenty of toilet paper BUT due to budget cuts the paper quality is so poor and thin that it disintegrates in your hand!

Poor quality pencils that as soon as you sharpen them their points break off.

In the middle of a really good lesson, all kids engaged, the required monthly fire drill sounds off.

One of my favorites: you've been on your feet all day interacting with the students, you sit down for just a second, admin walks in!

One morning I went in extra early (around 5 am) so I could get caught up and try to get ahead and when I got there the copier was broken and the internet was down . Talk about a wasted day .

  • copier woes added so much stress
  • then at at our school the copiers went wireless
  • some teacher would sit in her classroom hit the print button on a units worth of papers-all you wanted to do was run off the test you needed for 8:30 talk about stress
  • teachers who couldn't be bothered to refill the copy paper
  • DO NOT MISS!!!

Ours has a photo on it of Bob Marley. Because it's always jammin'. I love our staff.

There are some things that are just not funny and should not be included in attempts at humor. A broken copier is definitely on that list!

Along with non-functioning internet!

You were all lucky to have access to a printer at your school site. All of our printing jobs had to be sent to the county office. In the beginning, they had to be physically brought there....by a truck that came around to each school. If you missed the pickup, you had to wait for another day. The last few years I was there, they at least put in a system where you could scan your original copy and order printing online. It still could take anywhere from 3-7 days to come back to you. The "office" printer was for administrators only and you had to have a special code and there was a strict limit of only 3 copies made by a teacher with admin. approval. We weren't allowed to use it....only the secretary could run our stuff when she had time and felt like it. Made us feel like 2 cents. Oh, and when we sent things to be printed at the county office, there was a limit of so many copies per month and once you reached that, your account was cut off until the next month and you had to beg the secretary to go in and reinstate your account number. Oh, I don't miss that! Thanks for reminding me.

several teachers consistently used the printer to run their copies. God help them if they had to walk 30 feet to the workroom.

That is so true but in my school, each teacher in my special program has their own copier machine. We share though.. we are very lucky
