Raccoon Theme PreK Board

Clip to ScrapBook #1

So in my school, each classroom has a designated forest animal. At the start of the year, in September, the teacher is required to come up with a welcome back board reflecting that animal.

This year, my class animal is: Raccoons.

I have been trying but I cannot for the life of me figure out a clever slogan and theme to use for my board! Any tips, ideas, suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated!

And their sneakiness aside, I know that raccoons are very clever and curious and I was thinking to reflect one of those in some way. Any ideas?

Thank you so much in advance!

Hi! I found a few craft/bulletin board ideas...

This was from a 2007 post on Pro Teacher
"A Heap Of Fun Is On It's Way This Year"
Make a metal trash can tipped over and staple crumbled papers all over the board with items listed on them with the fun things you are going to do in the coming year. Have raccoons around digging in the heap.

Maybe you could use your curious idea for a title..."Curious Minds...All Ready School"

"Clever, Curious, Crafty...we are ready for school!"

I agree - Pre-K and The Kissing Hand are perfect together at the beginning of the year.

Also, welcome, ashleyrose!

The Kissing Hand is wonderful with Chester the Raccoon

I have used " Welcome to Our Neck of the Woods " but specifically for Raccoons could you use maybe. . .

" Welcome All Curious Critters to Room________

" Curious Critters Captivate Our Classroom"

How about "Welcome to the Curious Cub Club: We Are the Learning Detectives of Room #?" You could print out a photo of a raccoon and add a cartoony detective hat and magnifying glass.

And you could be the park ranger- or the mother raccoon
Baby raccoons are called kits. (Your last name with kits?)
A group of raccoons is called a nursery or a gaze.
The mother will teach the kits to hunt and live in the wild. (Real life world) They will stay with their kits for about a year. Like most teachers.

Instead of garbage, have them get into a picnic basket.? So what they will learn will be a picnic not garbage. Or at a picnic table in a park. A pair of binoculars-look! Or look at all you'll learn this year! The kits could make black masks to wear. Oh, and remind them to wash their hands like racoons do before they eat.

Sounds like a fun school!

Side note-
Raccoons are cute but not good as pets because they are wild and get mean towards humans.
