Help! I second guess EVERYTHING I do...

Parents stress me out... a lot...

I started Class Dojo to help with communication and honestly to make it easier on me. I won't be there tomorrow so I sent reports home today (for the first time) and this evening I had a message from a parent wanting to know why her child lost a point for unkind words. I actually remember (which isn't always the case) and during a bathroom break a girl told a boy he had fat arms and he replied with a comment about her being skinny. They both lost points for unkind words. But now I'm questioning it... This is first grade and neither student gets in trouble a lot...

Thoughts??? How would you respond?

TIA - headed to bed

First, when I take a point on Dojo I make a note about why. If parents are connected they can see the note. If someone asks me later I don't have to remember, it's there.

Don't second guess yourself. The kids were using unkind words and you followed your policy.

Thanks for your response, the mom was fine, I think she just wanted to verify that her son was telling the whole story. I use the notes sometimes with certain behaviors.

Sounds like you did everything right. My first thought was that the mom wanted to know so she could make up an excuse...
