Clip to ScrapBook #1

Just found out I am moving to fifth next year after teaching Kinder for 12 years. I'm super excited for the change (this was my first K class at this school) and cannot wait for it to be made public.

Here is my main concerns:
I'm not a super strict teacher, but I do have firm expectations and believe in logical consequences. Suggestions have been made about how to start the year and enforce consequences, but the "Don't smile until October" technique is just not me. I'm a happy person, and naturally smile a lot. What suggestions do you have for starting the year off on the right foot?

Thanks!

I love fifth grade. I think the best thing is to be yourself. If you're a happy person and smile a lot, go for it----you'll be building relationships with the kids. I think if you go with establishing firm expectations, impose logical consequences, and practice routines from the get go, you'll be good.
