What to wear to interview

Hey!! So I finally got an interview for a Kindergarten position at a private daycare center. I was wondering what I should wear? I have a cute blue and white dress and was going to pair it with a blue cardigan... Is that ok or should I stick with a suit? Also is it ok to wear open toe platforms?

Dressing up to impress is a good call even if the job means having to chase in kindergarten and getting down and dirty with them. Dressing for the job does not necessarily mean dressing to impress.

Open toe platforms sound inappropriate for a job interview. Sounds like something that would be better for a date. I'd wear more conservative shoes for the interview.

I do think that a more casual dress would be ok, though. I've always interviewed for elementary positions in suits, but for preschool, I think you can get away with a dress/cardigan. Just wear more conservative shoes than open toed platforms. Ciosed toe flats of some kind would be better.

I think the dress sounds ok, assuming it's conservative and appropriate. Hard to tell from "cut blue and white dress." I think a suit is always a good bet (but, having said that, I've never owned a suit nor have I interviewed in a suit). I definitely would not wear open toe platform shoes. I agree with Teeny that more conservative shoes would be a better bet.

But maybe you've already interviewed? Good luck!

I would dress like a professional in the position for which you are applying. It will partially depend on where you live. I live in the Pacific NW and no one here wears suits. As the school literacy coach/reading specialist at my school, I sit on interview committees. If you look put together and professional, you'll be fine. (I can honestly say I wouldn't notice your shoes unless you are wearing something you can't walk in.)
