Wonder is now a movie

I started reading the book about three years ago and it's so powerful to start the year. If you are familiar with the book, I have the students create precepts, compare characters, make connections and most important visualize Auggie (the main character) among other things. Well kids are coming in saying, "I know what he looks like!" Or "There's a movie." I'm trying to keep it on the down low not to ruin it for others but I definitely think I'll start with another one next year😞

I love this book, and I really hate they are making it a movie. This will probably be my last year with it as well - I'll move it to a book club choice next year.

Now that I am 5th, I want to start with this book. I hope it goes well despite the movie.

Yep! This is my fourth year using it as a read aloud in 5th grade, but it's going to be my last because of the movie, which makes me sad! But I am excited for the movie, and I'm especially glad it's coming out early enough that we'll be able to watch it in class before the end of the year on DVD.

I also hope it comes out in paperback - I want to have it as a book club choice, but a set of 5 or 6 hardcover copies is too expensive!
