One of my Ks takes off ALL of his clothes when he goes to the restroom and then comes out naked. Mother says he does this at home. Child (parent) does not 'get it' that this is not appropriate at school. Suggestions?

I have lots of naked poopers. It's very common. I just tell them they can't come out of the bathroom until they're re-dressed.

This child cannot dress himself. His mother does it at home. It interrupts my 21 other students when he comes bursting out of the restroom (in our room) totally naked several times a day.

Buzz the office and have them send a para. That would not fly at my school!

Definitely speak with parents about immediate "getting dressed" lessons at home!

In the meantime, send him to use the nurse's office bathroom?? (Because otherwise you're going to have some little girls' parents freaking out when they talk about this at home.)

Unless you teach SpEd (which may have extenuating circumstances), of course he can. He got the clothes off, didn't he?

He cannot leave the bathroom until he is dressed. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I'd be meeting with the parents tomorrow. That child needs to have intensive dressing lessons if it really is a problem (parent created, of course ). Be very firm in that you are not allowed to help their child get dressed and it needs to be taken care of yesterday.

Thanks for all your comments/suggestions. After two meetings with parents and admin, I am happy to say the child in question is making progress in dressing himself. He has come out of the restroom with pants on wrong side out and backwards, but at least his clothes are on his body rather than in his hands. It is amazing what can happen when admin gets involved. Just sorry they wouldn't get involved earlier.

I usually talk to the student and tell him the story about the naked pooper that was in the bathroom when the fire alarm went off. That usually helps the child to realize that school is not the place to be stripping down to do his business. Random thought...why is it always boys who seem to like to poop in the nude?
