Jolly Phonics Essentials

Hello. I was just hired as a Kindergarten teacher and I am working in a school that does not have a phonics curriculum. I was thinking about purchasing Jolly Phonics for my class but I am not sure what components are essential.

If you are familiar with the program, can you please let me know what resources I must buy to implement it?

OR

Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative phonics curriculum?

I am really hoping to spend under $300.

Thank you!

Sara

My school uses Wilson's FUNdations. I would use it even if it weren't a mandated curriculum.

The teacher kit is $355. LINK

I was looking into this program because I have heard good things. Thank you for the recommendation.

We've been using it since 2007-2008. It's got its flaws (as they all do), but I think it's solid.

We use Jolly Phonics and LOVE IT. Most of my students are ELL students so how Jolly Phonics uses songs, actions, and visuals to teach letters and sounds has made a huge impact. Really the only component you need is the smartboard program. Our district purchases the workbooks but they are not really necessary. The one area that was missing was a homework part but I created some to go with it. If you do decided to purcahse Jolly Phonics, let me know and I can send you the homework sheets!

Thank you. Unfortunately, I do not have a smartboard in my room, but I am glad to hear Jolly Phonics is working well for you and your ELL students. Almost all of my students are ELLs as well.

I spoke with the Kindergarten team and they shared some resources with me. I don't know why I didn't think to ask right away.
