Clip to ScrapBook #1

I am teaching 4th and 5th grade science this year and the curriculum has a lot of review time. Any ideas for games or activities that would be engaging or interesting to do? Thank you.

Bell Ringer

We use those bells that are used to alert a cashier when you are at the counter (and they aren't there) to play a Bell Ringer game. Sort class into two teams. One person from each team stands in front of a desk where one bell sits. Read the question and the first person to ring the bell gets a point if they answer correctly.
You can use two bells (of different sounds) or adjust any way you want. This is one quick and easy way to review.

Just search review games. You will find many. Give some a try and see what works. Good luck!

If you are 1:1, one game my class loves is kahoot.

If you have a smartboard or something like that, there are lots of jeopardy type templates you can use. I divide my class into smaller teams of 4-5 and assign a spokesperson for this one.

There are also some fun games for smartboards on TPT if you check that out. Some are free.

Another review game we like a lot that requires no technology at all is called Sink or Swim. You get two teams to line up on the floor facing each other. I usually do a coin toss to determine which team goes first. If the first team gets the question right, they "sink" someone on the other team and that person goes back to their seat. When the second team get their question right, they make a choice to sink a player on the first team or save a player that has been sunk on their team. The team with the most members still within play at the end wins.

I see that someone already suggested Kahoots for review and I totally agree. My classes LOVE them and I conduct a search on the chosen topic, duplicate a Kahoot that someone else made, and then can edit it by adding in, deleting, or changing any questions I want. They are da best!!
