More than I feel like typing out in a post!

We divvy up letters, sounds, numbers, rote counting, etc. so that the report card scores reflect what we've taught to the point, with the goal of the final report card being complete mastery.

Our report card is standards based and much of it is just reporting on what they know, not giving trimester benchmarks. For example, we put how many letters and sounds they know, how high they can count, how many numbers they recognize and write, etc. The few things that get a "grade" at the first report card (which is just below, approaching, or mastering the standard) are concepts of print, rhyming, comparing numbers to 5, follows directions, and speaks clearly.
