I was booked (well ahead) for a kindergarten resource room yesterday, and ended up in computers...with the connections down. We muddled through, but TGIF!

I get that sometimes emergencies happen, and one position needs to be filled more than another. But after all this time, I still find it challenging to be mentally prepared for one thing and end up doing something completely different.

That would bug me, too! Especially when the jobs are so different. Enjoy your weekend!

This week there were 10 jobs unfilled at a local high school for Thursday , 4 of which were resource. Resource is one of the few high school jobs I will do. I knew that if I took one of the jobs I would be switched, so I stayed home and cleaned out my garage.

Same here. I find it difficult to switch gears when I'm mentally prepared for one thing and then get shifted to a different job. Computer lab with no functioning connections? I'm envisioning you getting out a piece of tissue paper and a comb, and then doing a little soft-shoe to accompany the music.

I hate being switched - especially when it's a subject I'm not certified in and struggle with. Spanish, Bio, Math come to mind.

Because in my district where I am, teachers get switched often. We were told by Source4Teachers that we will be assigned at the discretion of the school. We may sign up for one assignment but the secretary can switch us around to where we are most needed. If we don't like it, then tough.

Good times bad times.

Unfortunately the bad days tend to go unforgotten. I can remember my worst days far better than my best sadly.

My new pet peeve is the bait and switch. I'm not good with elementary level or sped inclusion, so when I get assigned those positions I have a rough day.

My district runs a pre-school, and I've had the experience of being assigned to middle school and then switched to the pre-school at the last minute for a day that involved dealing with bathroom accidents. Just no. Not what I signed up for.
