Pension Check

Hello!
My school district allowed me to take a two month leave of absence because my birthday falls in October (today, in fact). I received a letter from our Teachers Retirement System saying that I will be receiving my first direct deposit on the last day of the month. It will only be a partial payment, but it's a lot more than I thought it would be. How stinking exciting is that???? Getting paid for going to yoga, taking long walks and hanging out with my dog. Life can't get any better than this! .

And great news. Even with the best planning, pension checks can be a surprise.

Happy birthday, Suzanne! I feel the same way about retirement: I love the freedom and am surprised every month by the deposit to my account. I ask myself, Iím getting paid to have fun?
