I'm starting piano lessons in January!! I can hardly wait! It will be at a place here in my little town! It has been right under my nose the whole time!

When I retired, I found a lady to teach me. However, this poor lady was so lonesome that she wanted a best friend more than a student. My lessons would go on and on. She would call me during the week to go places with her. I'm not a person to say no, but after awhile, I had to say no. The music she gave me was too hard for my level. I had to quit. Just didn't enjoy it.

The new place said that they were nothing like her. Strictly music. In fact, they had some of that lady's students. So, yippee! Something new to do!
Hopefully, I won't drop out this time.

Playing piano is good for the soul and good for our brains as we age. Did you know that musicians suffer less age related hearing and memory loss?

Im so glad that you found a good place for lessons and not where the instructor wants more than to just teach. Good for you!

I havent played piano since college and would love to take lessons to get back into it. Hubs even bought me a beautiful digital piano keyboard so I am ready to go.

How does one go about finding a good private instructor?

I too started piano lessons after retirement. It is enjoyable for me to learn something new and challenging.
Glad that you found a teacher that is a good fit for you. Play on!

What a fabulous idea! And I like the digital keyboard idea. Something for me to keep in mind!

Did you guys already read music? If I ever do it I would have to start from complete scratch! Do teachers take students with no knowledge whatsoever?

I just did a google search and found a local music center that teaches beginners how to read music and play the piano. I wouldnt worry about this at all. Go for it!

A few months ago I began brushing up on my piano exercises and just found a teacher to start up lessons with again. This is a fun post.
