Clip to ScrapBook #1

I signed out because I don't my state associated with my username.

I'm a teacher in Wisconsin. I'd like to start a Battle of the Books Team for my grade level. I just have one question. Does every member of a team read all the books, or does a team divide up the books?

Thanks!

Ideally, every kid reads them all. I've seen some lackluster teams procrastinate, and divy up the books to each read 1-2, but those teams are first to miss a question and it really shows.

My best teams would all read the books at least twice before the battle, and again before the very last battle that has all the books from each battle.

It depends on time you have to prepare

1 yr the kids did not seem to have enough time to rd them all. I had it so 1 kid was expert on 1/3 of the books and another kid was back up for 1/3. ( I never told them though that 1 was the expert.) Then did the same w/ the other kids. We won 2nd place because probably I did not know the books well enough to confidently challenge more. I was shocked by how many pple challenged. It was my 1st time doing it and we did better than I ever did w/ it after that. They were really good readers and smart that yr!

Our students are in teams of 4 and there are 10 books. Each student is to read a minimum of 2. Some of them will read 4 or 5
