Clip to ScrapBook #1

Yesterday I had lunch with eight other retired teachers from the last school where I taught. It was great fun visiting and finding out how they are doing. We get together once a month.

Today I met the teachers who used to be on my third grade team. We met for happy hour after school. They are all in their 30's and young enough to be my daughters. I love them so much! Found out one is expecting her first child in May. So exciting! They are such hardworking and wonderful teachers. I enjoyed hearing about how their year is going at school.

I don't miss teaching that much but I do miss the people I worked with.

I go to school (sometimes with my GS) every other month or so during lunch. I miss a lot of those people.

I was invited to the back to school party, and will get invited to the Christmas party. It's fun catching up.

I, too, miss the people I worked with.

Our district had a grade 4/5 school that was closed about 8 years ago. I spent 18 years there, others spent comparable time or longer before being moved to the elementary.

We get together the first Friday of each month for lunch. We are on a 4-day week, so even the active teachers can join us. (Actually only one teacher out of all of us is still teaching!)

We just met today. It was great. Catching up, helping each other with retirement questions (state retirement, Medicare supplements --- the list goes on!), and just having a great time.

My school is 30 minutes from where I live, but I don't see any of the current teachers. I do see some of the retired ones about every six months. I had hoped to stay in touch with more of the ones who are still working, but their lives are very busy. I do miss them, too.

What a delightful lunch and happy hour experience! It sounds like you worked with a great bunch of friends and had a great team!

I manage to get together with the teachers I miss about once a month. Oddly enough, I really miss our custodian but it's simply not easy to plan a visit with my former custodian. Custodians make school a better place.
