I start my student teaching assignment on August 29 with three PD days, then students arrive on September 5. I will be at an urban high school teaching various Algebra classes. Is anyone else student teaching this fall?

I am student teaching all year. I am currently in a 5th grade class and will be in younger elementary grade in the spring. We started on August 7th.

Wow - a full year of student teaching, that's incredible! How has it been going so far?

I love my students and my classroom teacher. But- I honestly don't like student teaching. It's hard being in someone else's classroom when I have so many of my own ideas.

Exactly!!! It's really all of the little things that are annoying - not having a key to the room (or the bathroom!), having to borrow an ID so that I can print, having to call someone to let me into the building every morning. Time has been flying and I can't believe I only have 7 weeks left! And one of those weeks is only 2 days long!

It has been the worst experience in 3rd grade. My CT has not made me feel like I am apart of the team. I never thought I would hate my ST experience. I have def learned how not to treat people.

Ugh....so sorry you are going through that. Your CT really is the biggest part of how your ST experience ends up being. Mine is not the most creative teacher, but she has welcomed me into her classroom, shares all of her resources freely with me, and has completely handed her classroom over to me. It hasn't all been a bed of roses, but those things have made all of the difference. Fortunately ST doesn't last forever! I only have a few more weeks to go!
