Procrastinating

I need to do report card comments. I can only find so many ways to say "your child can't shut up to save his/her life".

I'm procrastinating.

Why not be blunt?

-Loquacious.

-Very talkative.

-Distracting to self and others.

-Chatterbox.

-Very social.

-Interrupts others frequently.

-Quack, quack, quack! Says Mrs. Natterbeak

I find writing report cards to be so boring. I find term 2 especially hard as I have covered all the major stuff already so I feel like I am repeating myself.

Do you find parents think being social is something to laugh about. I always seem to get "Oh I was just like that!" Ok but that doesn't help.

Good luck!

When DD was in first grade, she received this comment...

"Her oral skills are a bit overused."

And how right he was.

Comments take forever. Years ago I download a 6 page list of suggested comments and used them a lot. It was a long time ago, but I am sure you can google up something.

pre-made comments in your system, I would comment "Needs to be on-topic when discussing matters inside the classroom. Most importantly, stay on task so others can focus on their work as well."

Cut and paste
Old 11-09-2017, 09:09 AM

Clip to ScrapBook #7

I come up with a few standard things to say, and cut and paste my comments to suit.

One set of comments for high achievers.
Others for struggling students, talkers, etc. Most fit into some category, and I can usually get six or so students in with a single comment minimally edited to suit.

Then I do the unique individuals.

It helps that our report card comments are extremely limited in typable characters. I can't say too much, so I don't try to get in depth. Plus, we're supposed to stick to academics as much as possible.

I would probably say something like "Johnny's grades will improve as he spends less time talking and more time on his classwork." (...listening to instruction.)

There is a great video I once saw on FB. It was called something like Translated: Parent-Teacher Interviews. It was HYSTERICAL! If you are a teacher...you will know exactly what the lady is saying!

No one has told me I have to do report cards...yet. I do have to do IEP progress reports. Guess I'll be busy this long weekend. I tried to access the report cards, but can't. Guess the AP of Special Ed will be busy, too.

"Works well when under constant supervision"

"sticky fingers: will steal anything that isn't nailed down"

"capable of doing grade-level work if I'm there to read the questions, the answers, and then tell her exactly what to write, letter-by-letter"

"refuses to work, gets bored, and then starts looking for trouble"

"healthy set of lungs"

Our disctrict provide a drown down menu for comments. We can't add any other comments--saves a lot of time.

comes to comments. I have 1 like that too who thinks anything I say is a conversation starter. He even thinks, "Stop talking" needs a response!
